Lake Hubertussee
The romantic lake Hubertussee was made at the turn of the century from the industrial family Krupp. The lake is called after the patron saint of the hunters, the holy Saint Hubertus. It is a paradise for many animals and for persons who are searching for relaxation. At the northern part of the lake the church Bruder-Klaus-Kirche is located. A beautiful walk leads you around the lake – the restaurant Gasthaus Reininger- which is also called as “Wuchtlwirtin” welcomes you.
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings at a round hiking tour through the Schwarzwalster or at the Arthur-Krupp-memorial path.
The church at the northern part of the lake is the first church in Austria in honor of Nicolas von der Flüe from Switzerland. In the artful created windows of the church the life of brother Klaus is shown. This church is a popular place for weddings.

Relax – experience- enjoy! The new path “Wohlfühlweg” guides you along 2 km at the northern part of the lake. The path from the Wuchtlwirtin along the river Weiße Walster offers the possibility for cozy walks. For parents with baby carriages it is also suitable as well as for hikers or persons with reduced mobility. “Embedded in the forest landscape of Mariazell and due to the variety of nature the Huberutssee is the ideal location for this path”, Gottfried Schöggl from the club Naturfreunde Mariazell explains. He has helped to create this path.
Experience nature
The club Naturfreunde create together with the Austrian Bundesforste the offer to experience nature. The basic of it are studies, which show, that the stay in the nature is well for the wellbeing of humans. Under the slogan “Relax- experience and enjoy” the WohlfühlWege offer lessons of care and relaxation to take care and experience nature and to relax.
During the path you also get background information about fauna and flora and some games open your view to the natural treasures. So it is possible to recognize nature with all your senses.
