Take the A9 Pyrnautobahn in direction North, then the S35 Brucker Schnellstraße and the S6 Semmering Schnellstraße to the departure Kapfenberg, then the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 49 km in direction North (signs).
Possibility:
S6 until departure St. Marein and then via the Pogusch to Turnau and from Au on the B20 to Mariazell.
From Salzburg:
The Westautobahn A1 until the departure Ybbs, then the B25 until Scheibbs from there are two possibilities:
B28 via Wastl am Wald to the B20, then Annaberg and Josefsberg or the B25 further to Grubberg and then the B71 via the new build Zellerrain.
From Vienna
The Westautobahn A1 to the depature St. Pölten South, then the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) for 76km in direction South via Annaberg and Josefsberg or also via the Freiland from the B20 go to the left to the B21 and go via Hohenberg und St. Aegyd through the Halltal to Mariazell (there are many signs).
Possibility:

Parking space at the northern lift in St. Sebastian, suitable for busses, for free
There are enough parking-ticket dispensers available. Attention: there is no possibility to change money, please note to have enough cash with you!
All guests who have an accommodation in Mariazell, which has no parking space, can park for free with the guest card at the parking spaces P3, P5 and P7 (the guest card must be placed behind the windshield!)
For all bus drivers: because of the traffic guidance system it is possible to drive with your bus from the Wiener Straße and the Wiener Neustädterstraße to the main square- there your guests can exit and enter the bus. To go to the main square from the Grazer Straße isn’t possible.
On the following spaces it is possible to park if you have an identity card for handicapped persons:
- Directly at Basilica (for 3 cars)
- At the pharmacy (1 car)
- In front of the gingerbread manufactory, Grazer Straße 10 (for 1 car)
- Parking space at the postal office (for 2 cars)
- Parking space at the upper parking deck (for 2 cars)

This zone reaches from the Hochstiege to the crossing Wiener Straße and until the upper main square in the area of the tourism office – Alpinium. The zone is signed and can be recognized by the green signs and green marked lines on the road. Here are the details.
The Pedestrian zone in the area of restaurants, the rondel and the stands don’t exist anymore
The pedestrian crossings in the area of the taxi parking to the restaurant Goldener Löwe and at the tourism office to the Alpinium don’t exist anymore
The stopping and parking in the zone of busses is prohibited, stopping is only allowed to busses. Loading is not allowed anymore there.
The parking space of the taxis remains the same.
The parking space for handicapped persons has been enlarged of 3 parking spaces
The possibility to park (max. 10 minutes) at the tobacco shop has been enlarged- now there is space for 5 cars.
The rules for the meeting zones:
- Speed limit of 20km/h
- Every vehicle is allowed
- Pedestrians are allowed to go on the road
- Pedestrians and biker are not allowed to be disturbed
- The meeting zone is part of the traffic- therefore there are valid the normal rights of way.
