Astronomical observatory

In Austria exist only a few “private” astronomical observatories. One of this rare observatories is on the alpine pasture Stehralm in the region Mariazellerland.

The main raison: Günther Eder, policeman and hobby astronomic. His is interested in everything concerning stars and the space. To watch the past, which is lightyears away is is passion. His own house with a dome on the roof to watch the space shows this passion.

But he wasn’t the only one and so the club “Astroteam Mariazellerland” was found. The outcome of this club is the observatory on the Stehralm. This was built in many stages and it is one of the most modern astronomical observatories in Austria.
